If you were to ask any stepper who have been steppin at least over two years about a fond memory they have regarding a place where they learned how to step or their first set, there is a very high possibility Hollywood Park Casino would be mentioned.
It has been the birthplace of more than half of the steppers we have today as well as most major events here in Los Angeles. It is the major location where steppin’ was actually introduced to L.A. as well as where the first national set was produced that pulled in major cities over the country. Not only did he have an interest to promote the dance, he actually took the time to learn it. The man behind it all, Mr. Lonzo Williams, is truly a major piece in the history of steppin’ in L.A. Lonzo I really appreciate you moving that full plate of yours to the side to do this interview. I’m sure it provided another perspective of you to the steppers who have not had the opportunity to talk with you on a personal level about the steppin community. I commend you for staying strong through the many trials and tribulations this dance has and is going through. Best wishes for your 6th Annual Steppin 4 A Dream next year.
